China Square Expands to Two Rivers Mall, Strengthening Kenya’s Retail Landscape

China Square, the fast-growing Chinese retail chain, has officially opened a new outlet at Two Rivers Mall, reinforcing its presence in Kenya’s retail sector. The expansion signals the company’s commitment to providing affordable, high-quality products while reshaping the local shopping experience.

A Strategic Move for Growth

The new outlet at Two Rivers Mall spans 7,500 square feet, accounting for 10% of the mall’s total floor space. This strategic choice was driven by the mall’s high foot traffic and prime location, ensuring accessibility to a wide range of customers. Managing Director Lei Cheng emphasized that the company sees tremendous potential in this location, citing its easy access and vibrant shopping environment.

Expanding the Retail Footprint

China Square’s rapid expansion includes existing stores at Unicity Mall (Kenyatta University), The Waterfront, Karen Mall, Lang’ata Hyper Mall, and two branches outside Nairobi in Mombasa (Nyali Bazaar Mall) and Kisumu (Mega City Mall). The latest Two Rivers location solidifies the brand’s position as a dominant player in Kenya’s retail industry.

Future Plans: More Stores on the Horizon

The company’s ambitious growth strategy does not stop here. China Square has announced plans to open a new outlet at Greenspan Mall in Donholm, Nairobi, on January 13, further broadening its reach. Additional expansion plans targeting key cities across Kenya are already in motion, signaling the company’s long-term vision for market penetration.

Boosting Kenya’s Retail Economy

The arrival of China Square at Two Rivers Mall has contributed significantly to the mall’s overall occupancy rate, which now exceeds 95%, according to Centum CEO James Mworia. This development underscores the growing demand for diverse and affordable retail options in Kenya.

As China Square continues to expand, its presence highlights the strengthening China-Kenya trade relations and the increasing role of Chinese investments in shaping Kenya’s economic landscape. With more stores on the way, Kenyan consumers can look forward to even greater access to budget-friendly, quality products in convenient locations.
